The Liberalists

A you tube star made famous amongst his followers for videos and events mainly slagging women off or any other populist topic, who like most of these new wave of social media champions dresses up as a liberal

Never mind the moniker (we all know his real name is carl).

He claims he is a classic liberal, in his values, when he in his vids he talks about most subjects by their definitions and to me anyway come across more inclined to a cartasian, define everything by what is logically set out in front of you without taking human nature and society into acount, where life unfortunately isn't black and white.

He may be using some liberal values but the above list is not really classic liberlism and then throwing in the present trend amongst this modern wave of identity politics crusaders to claim ownership of free speach while constantly using it both to drown real conversation and as a tool to denigrate those whose opinion they oppose.

Although not right wing he panders to their reactionary outlook.

Suppose the he kippers are trying to rebrand themselve as not a load of right wingers even too ott for the tories.

Modern politics is becoming more and more like an episode of black mrror.

Yes. It’s really not difficult. All you need is a basic level of decency, a modicum of good manners and an appreciation that acting like a complete tool isn’t striking a blow for free speech or exposing ‘feminazis’ or whatever cool name we are calling women this week. Gaslighting their followers with paedo conspiracies or ‘exposing’ parents of slain children as paid actors and encouraging them to be abused or declaring Sweden is now under Sharia law or whatever hyped up lunacy is on the menu is something I have nothing but the deepest contempt for. They and their adherents are intellectually weak and emotionally and morally bankrupt. They are a stain.

I could go on but you get the general picture. I hate to think I was being subtle.

I get the feeling that yet again Bob, you don't know what you're talking about with these people.

You do this a lot, just make up wild opinions and prescribe them to some group. And if anybody has looked into the oerson or group you're talking about, you just cone across as bizarre. Here you couldn't be any more off base. Again.

What we say isn't as important as where, and when, we say it.

We are all free to say anything we fucking like, but if you don't think there are consequences, in certain places, at certain times, then you haven't been out of the house.

But we're not. That's the problem.

People are getting arrested for making jokes.

If there's a legal consequence to speech, how is it in any way free? We're not talking about situation which are direct threats or calls to action, I can understand how legality should be involved there.

But jokes? Writing song lyrics on your social media?

It's gone too far.

That it? I quote specifics and you ‘get the feeling’ I am wrong? Strong case. I’m sold.

You don't have a case. You haven't quoted specifics.

You're no different from those in the Trump thread or the Brexit thread. All answers and no questions.

"Hey what do you think of Trumps policy on --"

Trump racist.
Trump sexist.
Trump liar.
Trump Hitler.
Trump bad.

"Oh right, we'll have you seen the Tory plan to --"

Tory evil.
Tory racist.
Tory rich.
Tory liars.
Tory bad.

"Hey look at the policies on this manifesto, don't you --"

YouTubers racist.
YouTubers sexist.
YouTubers liars.
YouTubers bad.

Literally the only discussion you're able to have is that the people behind the policies are actually liars and don't really think that, or they are all racist sexist bad. It's tiresome.

Apart from on Brexit, I'll give you that.

Ask me why I voted Remain or Labour then I'll talk to you. I'll tell you what swayed me TOWARDS their vote by citing agreeable and important policy. Not why other people swayed me AWAY from theirs because they're bad people.

You are free to say what you like. You are free to be offensive. You are not free from the consequences of what you say. This should be self evident. You’re an adult not a child.

That's a tautology.

Saying you're free to say what you like but you are not free from consequence is stupid. Free speech isn't about the literal ability to speak, that most people on Earth can do. It's about being able to express speech without fear of repercussion from Government.

It's a baseless cliche.

This and your previous post. I’m now reviewing my ‘you’re an adult and not a child’ assertion for accuracy.
