Just my two cents on this;

They are all very popular with the youthful right wing demographic, "Right wing" here having the meaning of being classical liberals, libertarian and/or conservative. Whether they can turn that popularity into votes remains to be seen, but what is obvious to me is that their "style" of political engagement is paving the way for those on the right under the age of 35, the next generation of right wingers, so to speak.

Those who choose to do so can bury their heads in the sand as much as they like, the fact remains that this is the new wave of politics and the fact they are all British and share the same subscribers and subscriber count means that they aren't going to be dismissed or disappear as easily as say, the 65+ year old demographic often connected to UKIP.

TL;DR, their meme game is too high. If that makes no sense to you, it should highlight how out of touch you are with modern political discourse.

One of the biggest problems I have with these people is their lack of consistency. They only seem to support freedom of speech where it involves somebody behaving in a needlessly provocative or anti social way towards a minority group. Now even though I find that quite a disappointing abuse of freedom of speech, I agree that acting like a prick shouldn't be illegal and freedom of speech is just one of many essential conditions that needs to exist to protect people's rights, call out government and affect change.

So yes, while freedom of speech is a nice USP for them to promote, I'll continue to question their motives, what they actually want and who they really stand for.

I wonder if Paul Joseph Watson and Sargon of Akkad will be speaking out now their mate Salvini is hauling a black politician through the courts for calling his party racist. I'm guessing they think it was totally ok for his party to say they support racial segregation and for them to depict this woman as an orangutan. But when she responds with a fairly measured: “It is very difficult for me to see that a party that accepts it is racist is going to manage law, which is supposed to protect all the community" she is now being prosecuted. For me that's a more worrying affront to freedom of speech but I doubt they give a flying shit about it.

I did enjoy the description of Free Republic et al as left wing Twitter echo chambers. They would not be happy.

I guess with Peterson you can either challenge his points and views, my preferred option, or you can do the fan boy worship and puff yourself up on the back of it. As I said in that thread I wanted to hear what people actually thought rather than just hear posters regurgitating Peterson’s pap. Once we got beyond the pap I thought there was some interesting discussion.
