The life of a Junior Football coach

Our club has codes of conduct for parents and the kids. Do you have anything like that? Player of the match is always tricky but as long as you can show it’s spread around, they’ve no argument. Anything relating to what position they play etc is a discussion for after the season ends. They cant land the coach in it 2-3 weeks after the season’s started just coz little Timmy had a bad game. They signed up, they committed.

Did it for 12 years with young Gaz, stopped a couple of years back when they all got to 18, have started helping out again with my nephews team (brother in law runs it) first game Saturday and one of the parents was moaning at him about another kid playing in the same team as his son, just the kind of shit you don't need.

Always maintained that the worst part of it all is the parents the kids are as good as gold even the boisterous ones who don't listen

The team I ran was in a pretty nice area that also had a local council estate.

I found the council estate kids were generally no trouble at all. They’d rock up on their own with their boots, play the game and fuck off home.

It was the ‘posh’ ones, for want of a better word, who were all the mither. The kids all thought they were Messi and the parents thought they were better than that.
