The Linesman v Arsenal stood down (updated)

Re: The Liner: "They Payed 62 Quid, Go Over There And See Them."

It's good the way that it worked out in the end.

*Those who didn't go got praise for refusing to shell out £62.
*Those who didn't go got praise for acting en masse and not giving in to wanting to go to the game to support their team though it pained them to do so.
*Those who went were mentioned for making protest banners.
*Those who went got praise for paying it and loyally supporting their team.
*Above all, the point was highlighted that £62 is too much for a Premier League away ticket.

Top man! Think if something is going to be done about ticket prices, now is when its gonna happen. Don't know if city fans sent back 900 tickets in protest, couldn't afford them, or "don't have the fanbase to sell them", or even if it was a combination of them all, but people seemed to take notice this time.

It was none of the above

Arsenal needed an answer from City 2 weeks before the game whether we were having the full allocation or not. City panicked (they'd have had to foot the bill for any unsold) as only 2000 had been sold and sent 912 back. There was no boycott (apart from few individuals on high points who chose not to go when they had the option)

Plenty saying they boycotted but unless they had 6000+ points then they're lying

It's a myth, but a myth that could bring some good in the long run

I don't think it's a total myth to be honest. If we didn't sell them quickly as we would normally do for "prestige" games, then there has to be an element of some of the usual away fans deciding not to go. There are plenty on here who have said they weren't going because of the price and given the slow sales, City then sent them back. So I think there was probably an element of panic from City and an element of fans deciding not to go because of the price.

Chelsea is £60 although we probably get a smaller allocation
Wasn't Spurs nearly £70 last season, again smaller allocation
Fulham is hardly cheap anymore but is a top day out

Allocated 3000 at Chelsea. Spurs was £47 or £53.

The slow sales were due to Christmas period. If the game was played in April it wouldn't have been as slow

If 2000 were sold then I'd suggest that a really high proportion of "usual" away fans still decided to go and having gone yesterday it WAS the usual faces and a really good atmosphere actually (maybe the high price made people think they best make the most of it???)

Of course some people thought it was too much and decided not to bother but there was definitely not a boycott of 912 fans.

These 912 tickets were never available to most of the people who have claimed they boycotted.

Me and 10 other mates boycotted it, nothing to do with Christmas an all to do with £62. I've not heard anyone who didn't go mention it was to do with Christmas, since when did fans on high points give a fuck about Christmas!

They dont, but some might have thought theyd wait a few days before buying tickets.

The tickets went on sale on 17th Dec, City sent the 912 back on 20th.

Re: The Liner: "They Paid 62 Quid, Go Over There And See Them."

the away team club's should have the final say on price of the away ticket or do like for like so they had to pay £62 to watch at the etihad

but for me its easy to fix just bring back safe standing

Re: The Liner: "They Paid 62 Quid, Go Over There And See Them."

Linesman who told City players to thank fans because they 'paid £62 quid' is withdrawn from FA Cup replay between West Brom and QPR

Still unclear why he has been dropped
