The Lords Prayer advert now banned in cinemas.

One could argue, given your analogy, Spanish is an option, atheism is not an option and Re is usually mandatory for a few years.

Yeah, you don't teach Spanish in your English lessons, but you teach Spanish in your Spanish lessons. There isn't really a viable alternative subject within which you could teach children that not believing in God is a perfectly acceptable viewpoint to take.

Let's not get confused here.
RE is a compulsory subject in all schools until the age of 16.
It is also the only subject parents have a right to opt out of.
The High Court decision is about the GCSE syllabus, which is an optional subject at 14.

Seems fair enough.

So, they don't?
Not in the advert.

Not mentioned in the advert no, but they get you with the fine print. In a nutshell, there was a very popular religion back in the day. A powerful guy in England didn't like parts of it, so created his own version roughly based on it, mainly so he could sleep around. Now modern day people in the church of England follow gods word, as amended by a randy (and notoriously blood thirsty) monarch. Probably too much to get across in an advert hence best left unsaid

Bastards! I can't believe they are advertising their 'product' and leaving out the bad stuff!

Tell me about it. At least with most advertising you have to list all the nasties/health warnings for consumer protection. If religions had to do that in an advert, the ad would be longer than the film.

I think 'keep away from children and warm dry places' would suffice.
