I always like looking at the people who say things like "Mancini is bad in Europe", as it tags them as people who don't actually think about the game very much and recycle cliches into their own opinion.
There's no such thing as "bad in Europe". It's a cup competition. It's like saying someone is "bad in the FA Cup". This isn't the 1960s where we don't know anything about the opposition. For everybody who isn't a savant like Mourinho or has the best team ever like Pep, it's a bit of a crap shoot.
Alex Ferguson, who many consider to be the greatest manager in the history of the game, took 13 years to win it. Is he "bad in Europe"?
Of course you have a greater chance of winning with more quality but as last night shown, the margins between success and failure are extraordinary thin.
Mancinis European record is fine. Knocked out last year in a group of death. Quarter finals with Inter twice, once getting knocked out by the eventual winners and once getting knocked out by a dodgy ref call. The idea that because a 47 year old manager hasn't won the Champions League means he's bad in Europe is laughable
