The Manager

Think we need a bit of perspective before trotting out the Mancini is poor in Europe line.

It was Madrid. In Madrid. To be honest, I expected nothing before the game and on the balance we probably deserved to lose (I just hate the typical City way in which we went about it). Its the other 5 group games that are the important ones and I think we'll be just fine.

If i remember his tactics in Europe with Inter was criticized too.

Will he get the sack if we fail again?

The Spanish media are pretty much slating Mancini this morning, they reckon with the players we have got they thought we would have given Madrid a better game.

Saying we are too 'Italian', very negative in our approach.

If anything, what will let Mancini down is being too cautious and not being a great man manager/ player motivator. Whilst I love Mancini immensely, I do think in the back of my mind that he won't be the manager who wins us the Champions League.

I just hope he proves me wrong though.

Forza Mancini.

Fail to do what? Not qualify from the group? There's no way that will get Roberto the sack this season. If we don't progress to the Round of 16 and win no trophies this season he wont and shouldn't get sacked.

The Prem title made him bullet-proof for at least another season IMO, barring open warfare and a failure to secure top-four.

There was absolutely no need to hand Mancini a new five-year-deal, this summer, and leave themselves open to an immediate compensation package running into tens of millions, otherwise.

Roberto had 12 months left on his existing deal and such is his relationship with Khaldoon, they could have let it go until next summer and there would still have been no issue.

Our owners are men of integrity and Mancini would have got a lucrative pay-off next year, regardless.

Just not the £25m or so it would cost us to sack him next summer, with another four years on his deal.

If he does not win anything major this season Mancini is gone mate. The wage City are paying Mancini now the pressure is even more extreme and the league has to be retained.

Absolutely this

Not winning the league could be "compensated" with a very good CL run.

Not winning the league and another CL fiasco already in the group stages that would be very bad. The worst scenario actually.

After his 5 year contract it would seem stupid to sack him if we win nothing fail in the CL group.

But while I trust him in the league this year /next year (honestly didnt think he could win last year after we lost our 5 points lead and turned into an 8 point gap behind MU), I dont really trust him in the CL.

Actually most of the critics coming in the way of City is about Mancini's ability in the big European stage.
He was also questioned about this in the Madrid presser on Monday. He won cupes, leagues but nothing in Europe. Why is that? he didnt really have an answer. (Apart from CL is strange and driving a Ferrari etc...)

His track record is weaker at City in Europe fail against D. Kijev, next year against Sporting in EL just after being third in CL group.

D. Kijev/Sporting/Napoli these arent the Bayern/Barca/Real level.

He needs to improve tactically and getting his first 11 right in the next 5 matches. Sometimes we win harder matches in the league then the ones we cant win in Europe. We need to improve.

Right now in Europe City is underperforming based on two EL campaign and the CL group from last year. The squad is better than that.

The Spanish media are a bunch of tools. I pay as much attention to what those pricks write about Madrid as I do what English media twats write about United.
