The Manchester City Freakshow has begun....

kiam ffs, i agree your entitled to your opinion but your disagreeing with the apointment of a championship winning manager and saying he isnt right because he hasnt/or his players at inter havnt won the champions league? basically that is what you are saying when you say wheres the champs leage trophies at inter?
wheres the fa cup trophy at eewood park? i respect mark hughes and im upset hes gone because i did like him,but to say that mancini wont be successful because he hasnt won the champions league is surely going over the fact that he won trophies in his few years there. Hughes has won nothing. give the guy some time, he has the potential to be our mourinho, smooth, charesmatic and still young. We must give this guy time because as much as i liked hughes, this guy will prove to be a different class. He will not waste the money that hughes may have- with a player like toure ( who SSN said we payed £25 mill for .. WTF!) who seems past it to me..

Maicon Lescott Chiellini Santo What a back 4 that is, and with roberto mancini in charge its very much possible, im not here to say what i feel mancini should do but i dont agree with what you are saying here kiam06 mate

There is a strong bond between Sven-Goran Eriksson and Mancini, if anyone didn't know. Mancini played in two clubs for Eriksson, and then was appointed assistant manager by Eriksson in Lazio. Not sure where to go with that information though.

What do you reck? Sven for director of football at City?
I wouldn't bet on it, but I woudn't bet against it either...

He was a good player who landed on his feet as a manager just like Guardiola at Barca he does not have the experience to come into a club like City who do not already have a winning mentality and turn it around, it should have been Gus Hiddink who has a proven track record of turning average sides into good sides.

We are taking a massive risk for no reason.

As somebody else pointed out, Inter were 11th when he took over. Hardly a side with a winning mentality.

Also, you talk about us turning into a Chelsea...what, you mean arrogant as fuck? A bit like assuming we could wait till summer and Hiddink or Mourinho would be riding down Deansgate on a white horse.

What if they, ultimately like Kaka and Terry lead us a merry dance but ultimately screwed us over?

If we had stuck with Hughes to the end of the season, what would have been the outcome? More draws, finishing about 7th in the league, and losing a high scoring Carling Cup semi-final cos we currently can`t defend to save our lives.
If changing the manager means we progress, then I`m all for it. Don`t forget our owners are professionals, and they don`t fuck about. If a decision has to be made they will do it. Hughes and the like were on big money, and that`s big money on the promise of results.
FORZA ROBERTO.

Again your point would hold more water if it was Gus Hiddink or Jose Mourinho coming in but Roberto Mancini???

Is he really a big improvement I am not sure, hopefully I am proved wrong for City's sake.

Mourinho I believe would ruin our club....he`d rip it apart big time. He would also believe that he was bigger than the club ie a big headed bastard, and he`d have his tail between his legs running off to the Rags when Fergie pops his clogs if the fans got on his back. Whilst not being a Hughes fan I will admit he has bought good players. What has been lacking has been the man-management and tactical awareness. Something I believe Mancini will bring. So for me Mourinho, it would be a NO.
Hiddink is currently the best coach in the world, but if we waited until the end of the season there would have been too much unrest on the pitch and in the stands. Perhaps we`d be so fucked up even Hiddink would blow us out. Not only that I reckon he sign another 2 years with Russia.
Something needed to be done, and done NOW. From what our Italian followers say he has good man management and gets the best out of the players. If so, he sounds like just the man.

No he didn't he started at Fiorentina, winning the Coppa Italia, repeated the feat at Lazio and only then joined Inter. Yes his first Serie A title came about because of the match fixing scandal and the subsequent points deduction for Milan and relegation for Juve made his 2nd title easier but his 3rd title was won with both those clubs back in serie A. He also won two more Coppa Italias at Inter.

So let's criticise our new manager because he hasn't won a CL trophy in the 3 seasons he took part in it.

But he was manager of Inter Milan not Rochdale!! Surely they should be expected to compete for Champions League trophies but they didn't. If he can't get a team like that playing in competitive competitions what hope does he have at City?

Believe me mate, its not that simple. Mancini didn't win in europe doesn't mean he's poor, its the Club's problem more than he's. There was a time when we had the best indiviual players in Europe (ronaldo, Recoba, vieri....) + best managers in the business yet we didn't perform well in europe too.

If you're familiar with italian footbal and Inter in particular you would know that Inter as a club have a Huge mentality problem when it comes to Europe. We can play a really good football in the league yet we struggle in europe (thats been happening for the past 40 years).

So mancini is the last to be blamed for that. Watch how we will get knock out of the champions league with mourinho against chelsea. Comparing the two teams (Inter's team under mourinho and with Mancini) i can easilly say that i liked the Mancini teams more (and our performance was much better too).

Moving the goalposts...

Not really. he took over the best squad in Italy during a rocky period for other top Italian clubs and then added the players you have mentioned but still Inter Milan looked very average in European football so I don't quite understand what he has done to justify his label as a top manager?

Yes, really.

What has to be remembered is that non of today's event's are Mancini's fault, he deserves 100% backing and a chance like Hughes had, it's true he has no Premiership experience, but nor did Wenger, Mourinho, Benitez (Bad example but he has won trophies). And he has won trophies and is probably a bigger name in world football terms than Hughes.

Like I say I am not comfortable with the appointment as I would have preferred a more experienced manager but I promise I as I hope all City fans will, I will get behind the guy and hope he proves my doubts to be wrong.
