Nervous about this one, if we play like first half in mid week then i fear for us i really do, tempo has to be like second half.

Secondly, Kolorov worries the fuck out of me against Valencia.

Hart
Zabaleta Kompany Nastasic Kolorov
Fernandinho
Navas Yaya Silva
Aguero Dzeko

If Clichy isn't fit we've no choice but using Kolarov, Richards isn't fit enough to start so we can't switch Zab over there.

I thought Kolarov had a great game in the semi-final against Valencia so i'm not that concerned about him, i'm more worried about how we set up in midfield, i'd rather we dropped one of the front 4 and brought Milner or Rodwell into a 3 man midfield and make sure we get a foot hold and don't let them have a lot of possession. Rooney finding space between midfield and back 4 will be crucial, deny him this and i'd expect nothing more than a city win.

I'm also expecting Gollum to be rather cautious and can see a 5 man midfield of Carrick, Fellaini, Giggs, Rooney and Valencia.

If we have our shooting boots on up front and keep free kicks around our box to a minimum we'll be fine.

Saying that they have brought out Webb................................................................................................

-- Fri Sep 20, 2013 11:25 am --

I'd take out Nasri and bring Milner (or Rodwell) play Yaya behind Dzeko and Aguero on the left hand side.

I'd also like Richards in instead of Zab but doubt he's fit enough.

We did what we needed to do in the first half, typical top team tactics away from home

Exactly. I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen big teams play this way away in Europe; first 45 you play fairly conservatively, try not to get caught the wrong side and get the measure of your opponents. It was clear that this was the instruction, and equally apparent that the game plan changed at half-time. If you only need to play at full throttle for 20 minutes in order to come away with a 3-0 win, that speaks volumes about the ability of your squad.

No Navas mate?

Evra v Navas has me creaming my pants

I think controlling the midfield is vital and I am not sure playing 2 strikers AND Navas and Silva/Nasri gives us enough fight in midfield. So although we are at home, I would be tempted to play 4 - 2 - 3 - 1

Zabba ......... Komps .........Nasti .......... Kolorov

.......Navas/Nasri .... Milner ......Silva .................

............................ Aguero ........................................

Unfortunately we never seem to play Milner in that position, but that's where he's at his best. A true box to box midfield player who offers as much in defence as in attack and would really shore us up in the middle. You could swap any of the Yaya / Dino / Milner triangle around. 2 hold and 1 goes forward. Or 1 holds and 2 go forward if we are really pressing. Can't see it happening though :-(
