The media/clutching straws

The NYT obviously doesn't see the irony in this little segment of its article:

Cardiff City, which had more than 70 percent of its goals from English players, would jump 11 slots to 8th place – ahead of clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham.

What a stupid fucking article and a complete waste of time, ink and paper.

Well,

I'd like to say well done to the lads, wherever they're from....

Oh the irony eh? Coming from a newspaper in a city of immigrants, one which quite rightly boasts of this as a positive thing. In a country where if you’re good enough, work hard enough and behave you can succeed. A country free of the snobbery and elitism and closed shop practises of the old European ways….. um…

City have welcomed players into their squad and some how this is a bad? And I’m sure if they check the history books, weren’t City the last team to have purely English players as champions? Um, maybe wrong, but teams like Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool and United were oh so proud to show off their fancy imports, players from far away in South America or closer to home in Ireland or Scotland. Why is this suddenly a negative thing?

When we had Barry, Milner, Rodwell, Lescott, Richards and Hart playing for us last year, or before when Liverpool spent millions to buy ex-City youth team Sturridge. Did anyone praise the club? When City spent 20 something million on an English defender how did the press react?

Well, they can drown in their bile and bitterness,.... fuck um…. As long as we’ve got players like Yaya, Zabba, Vinny and the rest, I don’t care where they’re from…. Yeah, I wish they were English, and yeah it’ll be great to buy the likes of Luke Shaw for 27 million, but how would these bastards in the press react then eh?

Fuck um, we are the champions. The champions of England.

I've got absolutely no interest in the development of the England football squad. If our academy produces players that go on to represent the National team then that's fine. My main focus is on Manchester City anything else is irrelevant.

All those goals we would have conceded, past what English No.1 keeper?

Fuck them.
