FFS don't let @stony read that.
Good shout Andy. My mum still makes them, nothing fancy just diced skirt & beef kidney, chopped onions with a bit of oxo. She makes her own suet and steams them for 2-3 hours. I tried to out do her once claiming hers were a bit bland and smart arse here could do better. I was wrong. Mine were only ok compared to hers .Her steak n kidney puds with proper homemade chips and peppery buttered mashed carrots need to be eaten to be appreciated.Add a good steak and kidney pudding to that list.

Well worth the trip mate, shout out for good sausage, mash and onion gravy while I think about food.I still think about the one at Mr. Thomas's chop house that you sent me to get.
I went to Sams chop house a couple of days later and had it there as well.
I'll remember that mate, must try them.. Last good S&K pud i had was in a pub of a small place called Port Logan nr Stranraer Scotland a few weeks back. I noticed on the specials board they were the homemade by the landlord from Derby. Bloody good traditional puds. Doubt If I'll get back there though. They them in one of the chop houses in town, it's fill your boots time.
Thomas's chop house sometimes has game pudding on as a special, that's well worth a try.I'll remember that mate, must try them.. Not those mass produced Melton Mowbry ones though. Tasteless grey meat encased in crust so fatty, only a fat trucker would enjoy.A proper hand raised pork pie with Colemans mustard takes some beating.
