The Mythical High Press - On Display

Chelsea could very well have ended up 2-2 if the ref had given the penalty. Also, I am struggling to see how Chelsea tactics make them miles ahead of us. Not sure why anyone would want to play how they are playing. I have seen Chelsea a fair bit this season and they don't look any better than last season and will drop points soon.

Also, we won the league and league cup last season so don't spout things like we are "yet" to see it.

To be fair I thought Chelsea controlled the game, Liverpool got a huge slice of luck with their goal.

A lot of Blues are negative about Chelsea just because their our main rivals but sometimes you got to admit when another team is playing well. When was the last time we got a win at Liverpoo?

But the fact remains that Liverpool should have had penalty.

I don't see where I said they shouldn't have had a penalty? It was more in reference to the statement that "Chelsea don't look any better than last season". That's blind optimism.

How were you sold any thing?

You were not involved in appointing him. It is just usual press stuff which any sensible fans ignore. "A newspaper has quoted a manager out of context in a press conference no one cares about, I must buy it".

I suppose winning he double last year wasn't enough for the new brigade.[/quote]

Spot on. Short memories.

This!
They will wobble. Miss a player or two and they will be in trouble.
Fighting on a few fronts so will pick up suspensions/ injuries soon and the odd ref decision and it come tumbling down.
The best team have not started playing yet and have already got 21 points !!!!!

What's up cock?

The guy made a false accusation either because he was trolling or not knowledgeable of the internet. I went with the latter and provided link to a well regarded series of books.

Hopefully, problem is Chelsea know how to grind out results.

That said I'd hate to see Maureen's style of play at City.

Do you recall when we were sold this guff about how Pellegrini would get our team to play?

Sounded great didn't it, however we are yet to see it! For those of us (That's all of us) who are yet to see it, ensure you watch MOTD this evening to see Chelsea demonstrate it.

Mr Pellegrini Sir, you also need to watch and learn.

In short, I have no qualms about trailing Chelsea this year as they are absolute miles ahead of us as a functioning unit.

Even though I've got my own concerns, the degree of revisionism on here is getting ridiculous. There seem to be several threads on the go now, all raised by people who were nowhere to be seen when we were winning a double last year, and all now piping up that the manager is a clueless twerp and that we won the league inspite of him.

There are other factors at play. The problem of a disinterested Mr Birthday Cake, who is also another year older and a few pounds heavier (and unfortunately our best player last season), a defensive midfield signing who keeps getting caught with the ball, a nervous £32m centre half, a quality centre forward sold at the start of the season and not replaced, and injuries to our two most creative players. How much influence Pellegrini would have had as regard those signings and sales is not clear, but you can bet that complete autonomy is not his. There are others at fault as well.

That notwithstanding, the facts are he has a complement of central midfielders lacking in pace and mobility, and all flawed in some capacity or other, and seemingly ill suited to whatever formation he puts them in, and not one of the Fifa14 managers on here calling him clueless have really come up with more credible formations than those deployed. Yes, there have been mistakes (the selection of Silva against Newcastle and the formation at West Ham, were both truly stupid IMO), but some of the hyperbole on here is becoming laughable
