How do you know it's a fact?
Religion has been around for thousands of years so you could argue that absolutely everything that exists in the human world wouldn't exist without it (I'm not talking in nature, I'm talking about things humans have actively been involved in the creation of, computers, cars etc). However humans were never given the opportunity to exist and create without religion being present. This forum, and indeed MCFC, were created in a society shaped by it's religious past, and present. How do you know that, had someone thousands of years ago not made up the myth of God, these things wouldn't have happened anyway? They are man made, would humans have simply sat in their own filth and not developed simply because no-one thought of inventing God and basing civilizations around the contention he actually exists?
Civilizations would have developed anyway. Is that a fact? No, it's a presumption, but it's a resumption based upon human spirit, human inventiveness, the innate desire of mankind to improve their lot.
Humans did, and do, use God as a crutch, they would have developed the ability to walk perfectly fine without him, as many people do today.
