I somehow doubt that the conclave will elect a Brazilian,as the Cardinals tend to prefer those without any hair at all.

Im not a catholic but the wife is and she has just been watching the goings on in Rome today as the process of electing the new pope gets underway

Listening to what some of the experts are saying there could be a possibility that the new Pope could be an American, Cardinal O'Malley of Boston is amongst the favourites if not the favourite.

That could be a recipe for disaster, he might be a nice man and make a great Pope but in the eyes of half the world he would just be an American puppet to the White House, it would be just too contentious and they really should be looking elsewhere

Its well known that the only real growth of the Catholic church is in Africa and with this in mind they really should be looking at a Cardinal from there or Asia certainly not another European and certainly not an American.

I don't believe in God though. I am only accountable to myself and those around me. That's about as deep as I'll go cos Ive got Red Stripe and Tanglefoot in my belly and heart.

I aint no saint either but what is infinately encouraging is that regardless of how many times I take the wrong path or make wrong choices, there is someone that is always present,, willing and eager to transform my heart and accept me for who i am.

Thats what God provides, unconditional love and support and He is always available to those who want to know Him.
