The new Star Wars film?

Palpatine was always coming back as pre disney that was a storyline as was him making clones to absorb his life force so he could live on so those moaning about that aspect shouldn't as changing it to her being hus granddaughter made sense. Also I thought it tied up the plot lines quite well rather than leave unanswerd questions

No he wasn't. Pre-Disney, this is what the movies were going to look like straight from Lucas' mouth.

Palpatines return and use of clones was always a lucas approved pre disney part of the canon in the dark empire series of novels, where in those he battled leia and her and hans children.

Also the final stand off where the ghosts of fallen jedis combine to save rey was the origunal 1981 scriot ending for feturn of the jedi and JJ has said he reworked it for the ending of this.

Disney ditched these novels as canon but the ideas are heavily in this trilogy

There were several draft sequal trilogy scripts wruttwn in the 80s that many elements on this trilogy has used, the luke exiling himself was supposed to be episode ones story from lucas but became Rhian Johnson main plot instead.
