The New York Times says - Journo's please take note?

They only make up stories in favor of their "political" bias. The sports journos don't make up stories. It's ok in politics, but you can't get away with making up sports stories in the US!

Uh, care to cite example of this?

We're getting off topic here, but the only misreporting by the Times that I can remember that served a political purpose was Judith Miller running false propaganda about Iraq's supposed weapons of mass destruction program supplied by the Bush administration. Are you accusing the New York Times of being a right-wing newspaper?

I am an American I also dont get how the English press gets away with printing made up stories. Here in the states if a paper did that, he the editor would be fired or the writer would be thrown under the bus.

And if the club says something here in the states its print as fact. Unlike in England they write that they must be lying if they dont agree with the the statement.

Agreed.

Oh, wait:

Glenn Beck is not a journalist. He's a talk show host who's job is to scare people into listening to him. Nobody takes him as seriously as a storied institution like the New York Times. Top class journalism, even if it is sometimes painful to hear North Americans talk about soccer.

annoying that an american newspaper can be so accurate and devoid of spin, whilst our own are just the opposite. excellent journalism

I assure you, this phenomenon only exists with sport. Typically it's quite the opposite.

As a yank myself, it is shocking to read the opinionated British news.

We usually separate opinion/editorial and sports news reporting. Our sports news' primary rule is neutrality, and even if the writer is biased, he knows that his editor will never allow him to publish an article with favoritism.

British writing is more colorful and frequently more enjoyable to read compared to the requisite dispassion of American sports writers, but City would never face a constant biased, unfair thrashing from the American press like the British.

Our reporting on politics is as shockingly biased as British sports reporting, though they imply facts that aren't true rather than stating outright falsehoods (like Fox News.)

To be honest after reading the English Papers I find them to be incredibly impartial compared to most american papers..

Tabloid or "Murdoch" sensationalism designed to generate sales and control opinion rather than provide accurate information for people to come to their own conclusions.

Palestine

If you want to talk media bias here in America, then this is going to degenerate into a pissing contest. Case in point, there is a Yank footballer here in ew york who is "holding out". That means he has a contract and hasnt reported to training camp because he wants an improved contract. There was a newspaper report saying he wil sign today. Its bullshit. There was another one saying he was getting a huge signing bonus and will sign today. Thats another one thats bullshit. Made up?? Methinks so....so it DOES happen here.
