I never really ‘got’ the Office to be honest.

I also find Peter Kay’s standup to be tedious rubbish, but Phoenix Nights was brilliant.
The Office got my attention because I worked in the printing industry so had to deal with paper sales reps and Ralph Ineson as Chris Finch was spot on, but that "staring at the camera" lark got very tedious very quickly.

Phoenix nights was really ace. Best episode was the talent show performed by the staff (Gary Glitter take off - I'm the man who put the gang in bang!, Stand up I'm the real slim shadie - and one old gent really did, Britney Spears in Lolita costume etc) when Den Perry got his just desserts. The Office was well observed but not really funny. Ricky Gervais did better with Extras and the Karl Pilkington show - The Moaning of Life.

The Office had it's moments..The one where he got the sack and when he got up to leave he was wearing an ostrich outfit. PN edges it for me though. I loved the bit when the old bloke died and his teeth fell out. The only thing that spoils Phoenix Nights is it stopped Justin Moorhouse from starving to death in a squat as his "comedy" warrants. Luckiest bastard alive that guy.

I did like the Office but it's easily Phoenix Nights for me. It has to be the greatest, most underrated yet under-watched comedy ever.

To be honest all of Peter Kay's stuff is brilliant but really hard to get hold of. The Peter Kay Thing is also brilliant and very few people have seen it because like Phoenix Nights it's just not on anything.
