The official EDS and academy thread 2011/12

I really doubt he was ever leaving anyway so long as he wants a new contract. It's not our way to release decent players at his age, even if he stays another 3 years and doesn't make it, his transfer value will be higher. He also made the bench against Sporting which was probably an acknowledgment of his good form for the reserves. Loan move next season if he stays. A Silva or Nasri injury and he could be in line for more time on the bench.

Barcelona want Manchester City’s highly-rated academy prospect Ashley Smith-Brown to switch to the Nou Camp.

The teenage wing-back, who can play on the left or the right, caught the eye of Barca scouts when he played for England’s Under-16 side against Spain in February, and the Catalan Giants are keen to recruit him for their legendary La Masia academy.

Arsenal and Chelsea are also monitoring the 16-year-old, who has impressed City’s coaches with his ability and work-rate.

Smith-Brown came to the Blues’ attention playing for England’s U16s in the Victory Shield competition.

He also featured for the Three Lions’ U17 team at the Nordic Tournament in Iceland last year, and was called up by Kenny Swain for the U16 side which faced Northern Ireland a few months later.

Smith-Brown was watched by the London clubs at the recent Montaigu Tournament in France, and was part of the England team narrowly beaten in the semi-finals by Russia on penalties.

That's quite a compliment to us and him but doubt City would make it easy for them to get him.

Head of Manchester City Academy: AIFJC Important Stop for The English League

Published: 2012-04-10

Mark Allen- Man. City Academy president, said, “AIFJC is a good chance for us before resuming the league. My team is only few steps from the trophy of the U18 league in England. We need to get four points of three matches against Derby County, Stock City, and Crew teams. most of the Man. City players participating in AIFJC2012 will be in U21 team next season while 5 players will stay in U18 team because they are only 16 years old.”

Why the league in England stopped right now? He answered, “it aims to give chance to non-local players to rest and visit their families on Easter day which is a fortnight period, but we preferred to complete our preparations for the league and join AIFJC2012 and after the end of the league we can all have rest happily.”

Concentration
About the third match of AIFJC2012, he said: “each match has its own circumstances makes it different from the previous ones. there are always surprises in football which we know well from the past lessons. We will face Al Ain as if we are playing the opening match away of our position in the championship. In fact Al Ain is a good team and play organized football. In addition they are the home team and many reasons will be for them like weather, fans and home stadium especially that all of Al Ain are locals. In intensive championships concentration should be at max in all matches especially against home team. I told my players we will play a new match and hard one regardless our position in the championship. We should show our best against Al Ain.”

Positives and Negatives
What are the positives and negatives you noticed in the championship, he said: “we can say negatives about the intensive program but it is hard and it affect the players sometimes especially it is a new weather for them. I wished to play on a day and rest on the next and to play at night. While there are many positives like the great organization and hospitality, buildings, and motivations. Everything here is organized and wonderful. Also the technical level of the championship is continuously progressing comparing to the teams club participating in the championship.”

Praise and Appreciation
He also praised the media coverage of the championship and he also praised the booklet issued about the championship itself which also impressed everyone. “ it gives information about the championship since it started until now. Moreover, it explains some details we were looking for before we come here. In fact we played many tournaments before but most were bad in organization and I think the media coverage of AIFJC2012 is perfect.” He said.

Technical Committee is Right
Allen also talked about the technical committee of AIFJC2012, and said “they were right when they chose Jordy as the best player of the match against UAE team, and when I watched the match again I found him really and verily deserve it. Also Albert Rusnak was chosen by them after the match against Valencia and he deserved it verily for the great efforts he paid in the match; he assisted our two goals and played some defense roles which made us superior all the match.”

Don't know much about this lad, but he is possibly an 18 year old left-back from Ghana- yet another trialist from the 'Right to Dream Accadamy'
