LOMBARDO OUT!

Mancini or not I have a feeling we'll see a drastic overhaul of the EDS/academy coaches this summer. Why put hundreds of millions into the academy and have idiots train the kids?

Don't worry about Lombardo being "removed from his position".

He will sidestep back into the first team and Txiki will take charge of the academy, plenty of background staff changes and appointments this summer. Pretty much guaranteed.

Why should he be even be given a role in the first team set up? he blatantly isn't good enough and needs to be removed competely from our club.

He was given the responsibility of overseeing the future of one of the worlds biggest clubs on the back of qualifications which amount to being nothing more than Mancinis mate......... a joke of an appointment.

2-1 down now, with a couple of minutes remaining. Sounds like Pozo picked up an injury too.

I fear it's not a minor injury either. He was bearing down on goal with a defender chasing. The defender got a last ditch tackle to knock the ball away for a corner but Pozo went down.Nothing nasty in the tackle and at first I didn't fear a bad injury but when I heard the screams I started worrying!

He sounded in agony and rolled off the pitch. Can't be sure but I have a bad feeling about it bring a break.

Apart from that though it was a crazy game on a horrible pitch. Both team trained on the pitch before the game and it had cut up a lot so inevitably the ball was bobbling a lot and control was hard. The first half was mostly City although it did need an excellent save from Lawlor after a 2 on 1 breakaway after Guidetti gave the ball away.Pozo scored our goal ,as he often does, with a shot from just outside the box.He used the defenders to curl it round and the keeper had little chance.

Sadly, although we had mist of the ball and a creative middle of Lopes,Pozo,Ruznak and Suarez we just didn't get the final ball right and it must have been frustrating. The 2nd half was a bit different.I think Newcastle came out to press harder and get into the faces more.Nothing too much changed for a while but I started to get an uneasy feeling as they looked a little more threatening.

We still had opportunities but again the final ball wasn't good and then they equalised. It looked like we allowed the right winger as easy route into the box but I have a feeling there were more than one missed tackles and we were all over the place.Lawlor saves the first effort but didn't get it away and their next guy showed some composure to ram it home.

The 2nd goal I think was down to mistackles by Leigh ,Huws and then Boyata leaving Lawlor no chance but it also stemmed from Bytyqi losing the ball in the middle of the park when we had a good breakaway chance. So not a good performance. We had all our creative talented players on view but they couldn't make it happen and when we started to comer under pressure they are not the players to really dig in and help the defence.

Guidetti up top might not be fully fit yet but he wasn't very good today.Compare that to their centre forward named Gabriel Obertan!!!

I would not say he was good but he was a threat. He won quite a few balls in the air plus alot of aimless balls out of defence he got to first to get them moving forward.I know he has some pace but his jumping/heading was a surprise.Sadly though he was much much more effective than Guidetti.

Why shouldn't he?

Plenty of people are good coaches but poor managers, he probably never should have took the job in the first place but Mancini wanted someone in straight away who he knew and trusted.

We have had problems at this level for 3 or 4 seasons well before Lombardo stepped in so these problems were well rooted and whoever was in charge this season was going to struggle.
