Can anyone post up a link to an official communication by the club stating that a top 6 finish is his brief this year? Maybe there is one but i havn't seen it. All i kep hearing, especially from the players is that top 4 is the target?
The link did exist and it was a direct quote from Khaldoon on the OS. Unfortunately, it disappeared along with everything else when the new site was launched. For the record, during pre-season, Khaldoon made a public statement saying 6th was our target for the season.

Shortly afterwards, Hughes made a press statement refusing to name a target and saying people shouldn't expect too much this season (which speaks volumes for his own belief in his ablities).

Everyone at the time knew that if 6th was the public target, then 4th must be the real target. This was subsequently confirmed when several players casually mentioned the club's top 4 target for the season to various press sources in various interviews.

It's clear as day that breaking the Top 4 is our real target this season, which is why we've spent 'three transfer windows in one' to make sure we've got Champions League football before Platini's new 'Financial Fair Play' ruling comes in.

As soon as it's obvious that Hughes is incapable of meeting that target, he will be gone.

I'm not ITK at all. Just saying that if he fails to meet the target his boss has set, the boss will get someone in who can meet it. It's a reasonable assumption.

People can argue all they want about whether the target is Top 4 or Top 6. I've seen enough evidence to make me believe it's Top 4. If we finish 6th and Hughes keeps his job, I'll be wrong.

At the moment I am Hughes in, although faith in him has been knocked due to our run over the last 7 games and the form showed.

For all the Hughes outers if we assume that Hughes goes, and Hidiink & Mourinho have been tapped up (mentioned a lot), and for a variety of reasons have both said no, then who do you want?

People on here have stated that either of these Managers would come / are available / could be persuaded etc. but unless they have asked them personally how the hell do they know that ?

Comments like "we will not struggle for top notch applicants and that is a fact" could be way wide of the mark. A top notch manager wants to manage in the Champions League, top notch players want to play there. At this point in time we are not a Champions League club, and because of that the level of manager we can get at present could well be set at the level of Hughes ?.

Have City fans ever been divided over something as much as this?
Thats a really good question and I was thinking about this last night, the only thing I could have come up with was before the internet wasn around, but Mercer/Allison. Things Like Ball, Swales/Lee I'm guessing while issues at the time most people would have been on the same side on each question(other than the OSC that is!!!!).
