Can someone please spell out the specifics of your objections to this prospect? Because the fact that he plays for the rags is neither here nor there, is it? Why is it relevant?

its a risk and i have my doubts about is attitute and fitness. with the ffp rules coming in rooney could be a huge boost to our turnover. shirt sales, marketing etc. garry cook would be in his element. if we could get him for a reasonable price and get him scoring again then the risk would reap rewards. from a fan perspective it could be hard for a few to swallow but from a business angle it would be a masterstroke.

the key point here is that we must boost our turnover and buying rooney would do that.

I get the impression it's an image rights thing. We were talking to Twatini and his minions a couple of weeks ago to thrash out exactly what we can and can't get away with. I'm pretty certain we've had some sort of a green light coming out of that meeting and there have been anecdotal rumours since that City think they can get around the main hurdles.

uefa are trying to fuck us bigtime. if we dont boost our turnover they will shut the door on the champions league. getting in this year will boost our coffers but with £500m being forced to sit on our books were in a tight spot. image is everything and you need to have a brand that people want to buy. rooney is fooking big business and some people are just going to have to accept that we have to take opportunities like these when they come along.

this couldnt have happened at a better time imo

The only way i would take on rooney is if we got him for a song !! £20 mill tops, looks like we will have no compatition so why pay any more ??? What would they do if we said are well we have changed our minds and you can keep the dipper !!

You're spot on. Not being patronising or anything to anyone who thinks otherwise, but I'm struggling to understand why they can't see these obvious plus points. I can't see a down side. It's mad to be hostile to the prospect of this deal. In fact, it's unadulterated, no holds barred lunacy.
