Where did they come from anyway?
There were no major stoppages and only 2 subs as i seem to recall
I've watched the match again and i counted there should of been 3 at most
Very strange
Can someone please explain?

Right at the end of the game when SWP missed a good chance, I looked up at the clock at the far side of the ground and it said 1.15 seconds left to play. I said to the fella behind me 'fuck it that was our chance and we won't get another' as I just didn't think there was going to be that much extra time added for a game that had no physios on the pitch and very few offsides and stoppages throughout the game.

After Bellamy levelled it at 3-3 and the euphoria calmed down I remember looking back at the clock and the time left to play was 0.00 when the lad in front of me said how long have they added and jokingly I replied 'probably about 10 mins now we've equalised but I don't think they've put it up yet'. I swear to fuck the game carried on for 20/30 seconds and then the board went up for four minutes which was shocking in itself. Then the bastard almost did play a full ten minutes.

No excuses for the way we switched off but FFS sometimes you need a level playing field to compete and today we didn't get that.

No its does not add up there was no physio on pitch all 2nd half. Can only assume its for the new self introduced rule for time added on for goal celebrations that Atkinson brought in today. Maybe next it will be "ball in play" rule so we can expect 15 mins added each game minimum as it suits. What a disgrace our game is becoming purely down to the persons responsible for running it, with David Gill at the helm.

United only needed 5 and a half this time.

They needed 7 minutes for this one:

Truth be told here, there is no explanation for the 4mins added time, apart from its at OT and the rags were not on for 3 points

Bent referee is all.

There are countless areas where referees vary their interpretation of the laws of the game. Dive or no dive. Foul throw or no foul throw and it goes on. One ref will vary the interpretation within the same match, let alone from one fixture to another. So don't get me on the variations between one ref and another. Now we have variations in the amount of time to be added on.

It's always amused me, the notion of added time. The game is two halves of 45 mins. What time actually gets added on? Do they add on time for subs, goal celebrations, goalkeepers wasting time, cautioning players? Do they add on any time when a defender hoofs the ball into the second tier? It seems to me that refs simply employ yet another system of ad hoc additions that were they to be subject to scrutiny would show staggering variations from game to game. And that should not be.

IMO that's exactly what we should have, a separate timekeeper stopping the clock when the ball goes out of play or there's an injury stoppage and play 35mins each way based on the ball being in play.
