The "get up" gesture doesn't mean Clattenburg thinks Silva dived, just that he thinks there was no foul.
Contact happens all the time, referees gesture for a player to get up all the time, it's not indicative that someone's dived.
I could accept this if it wasn’t for two little issues;
1. How often are these given? - the ref was very well placed and all analysis comes to the conclusion that there was contact in the box, it did cause Silva to go down and therefore was a penalty. So why didn’t he give it - mistake? Maybe.
2. Clattenberg did EXACTLY the same thing when Richards was clattered in the box at Old Trafford - same actions by Clattenberg, same outcome. Are we just unlucky with his bad decisions, or does he just not like giving us penalties?
I think it boils down to Clattenberg being basically inept and the ‘establishment’, of which he is a part, not liking what we are or have become.
