My lad went all over Central America, before he went I asked him not to visit certain countries, Nicaragua for one. He promised me he wouldn't.you never fail to surprise me...
yeah, the book is really good.
it's one of my favourites,
in fact,
i have to admit it accompanied me on my first trip to maroc,
believe it or not
and is still by my side.
the way each chapter starts with quotes is wonderful.
the first hotel i stayed in maroc 15yrs ago had a guest book,
i wrote in it the quote at the start of chapter 4...
"to the desert go prophets and hermits;
through deserts go pilgrims and exiles.
not to escape but to find reality."
(paul shepard - man in the landscape).
the film is all right too.
yeah,
sad ending.
The Crescents. The biggest load of shite to be dumped on Manchester, ever.
Apparantly, you have to train for something seven years to become an architect. Fuck knows what they teach you after the first half an hour learning how to draw a really ugly box.
I remember some graffiti on one of the balconies, Shankly Bastards. The Crescents. The biggest load of shite to be dumped on Manchester, ever.
Robert Adam, Charles Barry, William Kent and..............argh.
And a Viraj Menziz protest to boot.
