Slat maintenance, actually, in Greensboro, North Carolina! Nice to fly a short domestic flight for a change!

One in-one out, and straight back to Chicago!

Lake Lawn Resort, Lake Delavan, WI.

Very 80s Wisconsin Resort, but has beautiful location on N side of the lake.

Just S. is Geneva Lake, which is OLD MONEY Chicago haunt (Capone, Wrigley family, Meyer, etc.). Used to have their own Playboy Club which was THE place to spend your weekend nights, with a nice boat on the lake during the day!

Lakefront homes START at about £3-4M on Geneva Lake, whereas Delavan is both smaller and more local. Even so, they just built $1M+ spit & Kleenex homes on the lake!

During the pandemic, lake (all!) property popped 20-100%, depending on the location, so it’s become almost prohibitively expensive for regular folk, many of whom had planned a modest lake retreat for retirement.

The ONLY reason we bought this home last year (5 yrs prior to retirement) is because it was a ridiculously good price due to a death in the family, requiring a distress sale! My buddy lives next door and called me in Barcelona to tell me to come out and buy it!

We knew the area already and bought it on sight for a silly low price for IL. It needs work, as it was an older couple and 1992 stick construction, with small BR/BA. But, with 4 yrs to retirement, we are taking our time to remodel/rebuild for the future.

Hopefully, it’ll be a nice retirement home for us, while being able to enjoy it before then, too!

Hit the drop image icon on the bar above.
Hit Drop Image.
Select from your Photo Library.
When your photo library opens, go into Options, at the bottom left.
When this opens, select Large rather than Full size. Hit Done, then select your photo to drop.
This should make the size acceptable. If not try again and reduce to medium or small.

Good luck.
