The Post General Election Thread

As Labour are currently anything but Socialist it shows either a devious gameplan on your part or a lack of understanding of political doctrine.
if Labour fail to elect a left leaning leader then they are finished, but it will leave 4 years for true socialists to organise before the next general election (assuming that the tories don't rip themselves apart before then, already reports of disharmony amongst the ranks are surfacing)

Why do people insist that the Labour Party isn't socialist , its what it calls itself , what every Leader has called himself and I posted this in the Labour Leader thread earlier today, from the next leader , you'll notice the word socialism.

As for the Tory disharmony, Redwood and Co can have their moment in the No Campaign.

You know what he means, and he has a point.
If the same Red Ed and Labour for all their faults had enjoyed the same position in Scotland as other Labour leaders in previous elections then Labour would have got at least 45 more seats from Scotland and who knows how many more English seats which were lost this time around because of the worries of SNP influence over a minority Labour government. The Lib Dem vote may not have collapsed as much. In such circumstances Labour for all it's faults could easily have been level with the Tories without the Scottish effect.
Not much consolation for the future for Labour but the election was decided by the situation in Scotland and had much less to do with Red Ed, 'left wing' Labour or failure to appeal to aspirational values or any other such twaddle.
I know exactly what he meant, but he couldn't bring himself to say it.

The English are inimical to socialism, of which the SNP is the only meaningful political manifestation in the UK.

So

Like it has worked in France?

Sorry for having an opinion. Why didn't you stand for treasurer instead of George Osborne? George clearly does not understand economics as well as you.

The institute for fiscal studies are also wrong. You rascal and Ducado know best.
The IMF must be wrong, It was supportive of Osborne.
They're probably not sane or rational though so their opinon on the British economy is obviously skewed.

They most certainly are. However, the left here refuses to see it and will suffer because of this inescapable fact.

The IMF are also nutters therefore. Add George Osborne, David Cameron and the institute for Fiscal Studies.

All of these are nutters.

I apologise for having any faith whatsoever in the above organisations. I should have just listened to Rascal and PB.

No the IMF, IFS etc are not nutters. But they do have there own agenda. They are not neutral and they are inherently politically biased. Think tanks by there very nature are influenced by their paymasters. That few think tanks reveal who funds there activity masks their agenda.

Ian Duncan Smith founded a think tank called the Centre for Social Justice. It claims to be Independent, but it is profoundly Neo Liberal in thought. The fact it is funded by hedge funds and the City makes it highly likely that its findings will reflect what the people who fund it want them to be. That is only natural.

I am influenced of course by research from the left and pro Keynesian economic thought. As their research reflects my thoughts on how i believe society should be run. Again that is only natural
