The Post General Election Thread

I really respect SNP
Wish I was Scottish
Liberal views plus scottish patriotism, something our parties just cannot reconcile

If it was so easy to find these cuts without hurting anyone, as some are claiming, then don't you think they would have been made already? Or that Cameron would have set out where they were going to fall in great detail during the campaign? But they haven't and he didn't. That should tell you something.

Osborne made deep cuts but then had to increase borrowing as they were clearly hurting the economy and holding back growth. Not good tactics with an election looming. Now, with the election over and a majority, the gloves are off. I hope it's all as simple to balance the books as some people are saying.

Damocles - I only have 59 hours until I am back in work. I will read you novel and respond sometime in October.

You complained that Ducado didn't engage with you and now complain that I engaged with you at length.

You seem to want a very specific type of engagement.

Some of the stuff being posted on here is quite discomforting.

Food stamps. Really? What about a proud bloke, who has worked hard all his life, but has fallen on hard times? Are we really saying that he should pay for the family shop with food stamps? Oh, and he can't buy alcohol? Fuck off. Maybe it should be decided by your National Insurance number? Scan your card at the till, and if you don't have enough contributions you have to put the bottle of wine back.......Jesus H Christ, some of you must be on the wind up.

Taking homes away from single mums. Ok, maybe there is a problem with single mums, but is the answer to make them live at home with their parents? How many people are we saying should reside in one home? Oh, and to add to this they should all be on food stamps? Mind you, at least they'd save on the bedroom tax!

Oh, and all kids over 10 are smoking and drinking? What the actual fuck.....some on here are either on the wind up, or are fucking giddy after the election. There is so much stereotyping it's bordering on the ridiculous.

Damocles that was a great post, however it's impossible to change certain people's mind frames regardless of how valid your point's are.

Before my mum died she had rhemetoid arthritis, could barely walk and my dad was her carer. I am one of 5 and they obviously received money off these "hard workers" , some of these people would probably say my mum shouldn't have had so many kids either or smoke!
That people who don't work should have no life what so ever.

My eldest brother is now on around 70k plus a year and my sister 30k plus, with my youngest brother in uni studying computing engineering.

If we didn't have any help from the government then none of the above would have been possible.

Any believe you an me we didn't have much money, had to sow school badges on cheaper jumpers to save money but mum always made sure every penny went on us.

OK, this thread needs input from a Leftie. If no one turns up any time soon I'll take it on myself.
