he plainly said "Our little Paki FRIEND."

How patronising is that!

patronising indeed but no abuse but how would it be if he had said the same about some one with ginger hair ie "our little ginger haired friend"..it would have pro gingers in a rage

In theory it is a legitimate nickname for a Pakistani, like Brit, Scot etc , but the fact is it was turned into a racist term because people used it for anyone of a certain skin tone.

It is considered racist, rightly or wrongly. You're gonna have to live with it.

The comparison with calling someone a 'ginge' or whatever else is spurious at best.

However such names are used (ginger nuts, copper-nob etc, I've heard them all as I'm a ginge), there is no way on earth they can be seriously equated with what our moronic Prince has said, using a word which is rooted in decades and centuries of prejudice.

In my view it is unacceptable for the person who is third in line to the throne of a country with a sizeable Asian community to use the term "Paki". Everyone with half a brain knows it is a racist phrase, whether you agree with it being a racist phrase or not.

Having said that, is anyone really that surprised he said it, especially after he dressed up as a Nazi for a fancy dress party?

Not so much fun at school, but it's great now - girls can't get enough of it :)

i know we were cruel at school against gingers, used to take the piss and gingers in general are taken the piss out of light heatedly still and we still call a mate "fireball" but obviously in jest unlike the word we are discussing...piss taking-racial= a million mile apart

racist abuse................Jesus its knobs like you and the press that over exaggerate, yes he's a prick for saying it but ffs abuse.... get a life

Ok, you kid yourself it's cool to call people names because of the colour of their skin, call it 'banter' even, anything to make the racism seem more acceptable, whatever gets you through the night.

Most Pakis laugh at being called a Paki, because they were born in Briton.. the only people who object to being called a Paki are Indians..

But obviously only when its said in the "best possible taste".
