It's the speed they go up that's the crazy thing imo...if you've ever stood on one of the big Alpine ramps when they're going up, their speed is just stupid fast.

Back in the day I did a bit of racing and could climb to a reasonable standard, including big stuff in the Alps etc.These guys go up these mountains at literally 2x the speed I could, and at the far end of 200km racing already in their legs. The cameras & overhead shots don't really capture it. They're freaks.

As you say mate, freaks, 6 hour days with major climbing and they still manage to average 45kmh for the stages lol.

I tootle around at 25kmh and think I’m doing ok.
 
This TT is a fascinating watch but fuck me, it’s brutal after 3 weeks of racing.

Those gradients are ridiculous.
 
Will be interesting to see if the big boys go for a bike change or start out on the climbing bike and what lid they wear because this will be won or lost in the climb.
