The Pro Road Cycling Thread

Well All, tis the night before Christmas once again.

Always love the Tour, but genuinely can’t wait for the GC battle this time. Throw in a fascinating route/profile, a TT finale, and the last and hopefully glorious chapter in the Cavendish Saga, and it really could be a Tour for the ages.

Even tomorrow’s opener looks like a humdinger, none of this boring prologue bollocks!

Enjoy :-)

Today’s Tour stage another corker.

Knew it was bull that Visma weren’t sure about JVs form. His numbers in training were clearly very good. The way he followed Pog was ominous, but as McEwan said post race the attack wasn’t on the most difficult section. The absence of Roglic a bit concerning though.

I know there’s a separate thread for this year’s Tour but I’m gonna keep hammering away in the original and best for cycling lovers on here.

The great sporting achievement of the year? Undoubtedly
Of the decade? Maybe
Of all time? It should be in the conversation

What a ride from Pidcock to win MTB gold at the Olympics, was nearly 40 seconds down after a puncture, brillianty overtook the French rider as time was running out on the last lap. The French crowd were a disgrace, bad losers.
Yep, brilliant!

It’s a good job for the lads in the ‘pit lane’ that he did go on and win ;-) Would’ve been a few recriminations otherwise!

To come back and claim it like that, truly outstanding.

Just seen that Remco and Alaphillipe both announced as doing the Tour of Britain.
I mean seriously, Remco ffs!!

Can’t quite believe it if I’m honest. Assume he’s using it as World Champs prep.

I may try and see the Barnsley - Sheffield stage. Seems the closest to watch this year.

Great that both of them are lined up to be in it.

Third and final GT of the season underway today in Lisbon stage 1 of La Vuelta, a 12km ITT.

If anyone’s interested, Josh Tarling due off soon after 6.30 - gotta be a favourite here, hopefully he can bring it home.

It’s live now on Eurosport/Discovery.

Bit of a kicker for Tarling that, less than a second, esp after his Olympic bad luck. It deffo seems like the wind has got up.
