The Pro Road Cycling Thread

Never mind the friggin jerseys, lets get back on the road. Tour Down Under on the horizon :-)

I keep trying to watch cyclocross as it is the only cycling on tv right now. I really don't understand how anybody thinks it is fit to watch. I understand the difficulties and the guys that do it are beasts, but damn it is boring as hell to watch.

Wow, most of this year's kits are hideous. Normally I'm a fan of the Garmin kit, but I'm not a fan of the 2014 version. Giant and Trek are both pretty decent. AG2R kits are always ugly and this is no exception.

I'm going to miss seeing the orange of Euskaltel out there.

I'm the opposite, I don't like either of Giant and Trek but really like the Garmin (except for the Sharp sponsorship of course!) and have always liked AG2R's kit as well. We agree on Euskatel though, they'll be sadly missed bobbing up and down in the middle of the peloton.

I'm not fussed about jersey's being fashionable, I just like them to have bright or distinctive colour schemes so that they're then easy to distinguish from the helicopter viewing point. With Trek, Sky, Movistar, IAM, Lampre and Orica all going down the black/navy blue route, it's not going to be a particularly viewer friendly season, especially when it rains and the capes come out. Sure we'll muddle through though so bring on the racing!

I agree with you on that, it is nice seeing the various colors in the peleton. One thing that annoyed me the last two years is when Sagan is in green it doesn't look much different than his normal jersey.

Cannot wait for it all to kick off again!! - Should be some great racing, and lets hope the brits can keep winning :)

I really need to get my own bike out and get some miles in... Been so so bad over the winter and deciding to stay in the warm rather than get out on the bike..

I think i need a nice week away in Majorca in the sun to get me going again

Yeah I've hardly been out on my bike either. I was really good last winter and got out there a lot, but this time around it's not happened. Still time to rectify that though over the coming weeks I suppose.

Looks like Horner may be getting a team at last with reports saying Lampre may be prepared to take a punt on him. Still no takers for Samu though.

Not sure if its just me or others too, but i can be in really good shape on the bike in the summer, then over the winter if i dont keep riding regular when i next get on the bike again its all gone to shit and back to square one - no matter how often im in the gym or eating healthy etc..

there simply is no substitute for miles under the belt

First bit of proper racing last night, it's great to have it back! Not seen Evans look that strong in ages, think Porte was a bit shocked by how strong Cadel was too.

Adam Yates doing well in San Luis on his pro debut too :)

Great start for Adam Yates, Finished 11th on GC and got the best young rider jersey at San Luis. Quintana gets his season off with a bang by winning the race comfortably. Nibali and Rodriguez were there too but didn't real seem to have any interest in racing this early in the year.

Big week this week! Froome makes his season bow today at the Tour Of Oman (great race it was last year! Schleck's riding this one as well) and Contador starts his year tomorrow in the Algarve. Plus there's a decent line up at Andalucia too with Valverde. Porte and Wiggins riding there. The season really gets going now.

Excellent. Been a long winter without the racing.
