The Rags Have 'Silva' Envy

We shouldn’t be surprised at the general rag mentality regarding Silva. It comes from the same place that the ‘you’ve got no history’ and ‘you’re a rich man’s plaything’ comes from. It’s envy of the worst kind and more to the point, it’s fear. They have a large number of ‘fans’ who are there for instant gratification. If a club, or even player, threatens that instant gratification, the natural instinct is to deny that it exists. Clearly, some of them have more sense, but they have a frightening number who are there for a quick fix.

It wouldn’t occur to the vast majority of City fans that, say, Balotelli is better than Rooney, or Lescott is better than Vidic - common sense and stats suggest otherwise. Ask a Utd fan to compare Silva with Cleverley however and you get an illogical, myopic and deluded response. Asking them to appreciate Silva is like asking a pig to appreciate the Mona Lisa.

If you want to argue Park's merits feel free. Resorting to the old tired rag accusation just makes you look like a prick.

I am actually comfortable enough being a City fan that I can see the merits of other teams players. If you aren't, well that's your problem.

You mustn't watch the "EPL" much if you think Park would get into our team. Because that's what you are saying.
Don't be ridiculous, of course Park could get in. More productive than AJ, no doubt.

How would you feel if the swap was offered?

Age and nationality give AJ the edge(whole career ahead of him), but Park's effort on the pitch is surely admirable. Give credit where it's due!

As we're talking what-if's- You wouldn't take Park on a free?

We are struggling to squeeze the number of players we have into the different squad specifications, so no, I would rather have AJ being English and young. Same goes with Milner.

I wouldn't take Park on a free. Milner can the same job, to a higher standard. Milner's workrate is incredible.

And is there any team in the world who doesn't have Silva envy?

Was in the Rising Sun in town after the game on Saturday,

Was having some banter with a few rags, a rag came over to us started talking 'football'.

I asked him one question, who is better Cleverley or Silva.

He paused didnt say anything for 5 seconds then came out with 'I dont rate Silva'

I laughed in his face, shook my head and walked off. There was not a football brain cell in his head.

Their arrogance knows no bounds...

There's a lack of generosity and respect for other teams in the rag mindset that I have not really experienced witth any other club's supporters

Next time bud say back to them..." Silva....he's not big and he's not cleverley"..

oh and btw to that rag on here... Park is only in your team for shirt sales,if he was any good he'd get starts more often than he does.. Sir Alchy brings him on when the games won already to keep the Far eastern support happy..

so no...I wouldnt take him on a free.

Nani at his best > Silva at his best but yes, Silva does seem a little more consistent.

Thgink the real problem lay with Mancini not Silva.Mancini didn't really get to know his best 11 till towards the end.I was pleasantly surprised to see Silva on the bench so often.Crazy really...he should have started just about every game.

Silva plays in the Rooney role, not as a midfielder. He's one of the best players in the league but not the best in his position as that's Rooney.

Rooney never takes the ball to a players right...when everyone realises this he'll be prone to mistakes.

"I'd take Wilshere over Silva

I'd probably take Modric too. Both of them are more well-rounded and useful at both ends of the pitch.

Silva's brilliant in the final third but doesn't do any of the dirty work in the centre of the park.

I actually think Anderson's performance at the weekend is a good example of the type of all-round central midfield display that you won't ever get from Silva and that you need if you're going to play with two strikers and two wingers, the way we like to line up."

There's always that one clueless tit isn't there, fair play to most of reds on that page, they seem to know their football and arn't putting any biased comments on City's team, suppose they'll sleep easier at night the quicker they accept how good we've become.
