Yey.
Another science vs religion thread.
In the blue corner we have some stuff some people think might have happened,
In the red corner we have some stuff some people believe did happen,

Count me in with the people who think.

Me too.
The sooner we stop giving any credibility to the god squad and their barmy, unsubstantiated fairy stories the better.

Time to rebuild the ship of fools ...

-- Sat May 21, 2011 7:36 pm --

All i can see on the news is that there's a big storm on Twitter. Where is that?

That doesn't count. We need a time lord.

Its utter bollocks to suggest that serious Christians believe that God literally created the universe in 6 days.

There are no "serious Christians". To be a Christian you at least have to believe in the resurrection narrative. And no serious thinking person could possibly believe in such an extraordinary feat on the sole basis of a book.

Our values came from the Bible, like it or not. It is the oldest, most famous story in the history of mankind, whether you believe it or not. I, for one, hope this battle between Science and Religion continues, because if one or the other is proven as the source of all creation, that is when Doomsday will come.

Anybody think this guy should now be taken to task on this?

Not that we needed to wait for confirmation but it'll stop the 'what if he's right brigade' from defending him.

He's clearly taken advantage of innocent gullible people with influential lies that have led to people losing thousand of pounds and in some cases even given up their jobs to be with the movement or their family.

There's got to be a line, surely, between having a belief which has some historical pretext (even if its basis is full of logical fallacy) and coming up with what I would regard as "cult" lies to take advantage of the vulnerable? That's what the guy has done here, he's interpreted the bible in his own way and made himself a cult (pun intended).

I think he wants locking up personally.
