The Rolling Stone Magazine 500 Greatest Songs. Pick your fav

what about 'Youve lost that loving feeling' by The Righteous Brothers

astoundingly great song surely better than like a rolling stone surely.

You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat

Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat

Can anyone explain what that means FFS ?

My Generation - The Who

What a band! Plus that song has stood the test of time! Still as aggressive to the kids of every generation.

The Beatles would have been up there too for me but a Pretty poor list overall.

I'll try mate.

It refers to Edie Sedgewick an actress/socialite who used to hang out with Andy Warhol. She was part of his scene in 60's New York and "starred" in a few arty low-budget films which were shown mainly in his art studio The Factory. The chrome horse is a limousine, the Diplomat is a veiled reference to Warhol and the cat is just Dylan mocking Warhol's affectations.

Dylan blamed Warhol for Sedgewicks increasing drug addiction and their estrangement. Hence the next lines:-

Ain't it hard when you discover that
He really wasn't where it's at
After he took from you everything he could steal.

Next.
