It would become even more romantic if there was a 100m prize and a place in the CL for winning it.

The owners took over to market the club as a brand. To do this we need Champions League football. Without Champions League football we can't meet the FFP regulations. If we can't meet the FFP regulations we can't compete in the Champions League. If they can't market the brand in the CL (the very reason for the takeover), why would they stick around?citygal1 said:Bluemoon115 said:Bigger picture.
Would you rather look back in ten years at a mass of trophies, or that one FA Cup before FFP rules kicked in and our accounts didn't work out, so we couldn't get into the CL, leaving the owners to write us off as a bad job, damn near bankrupting us?
haha dramatic or what

So yeah, it is dramatic. Doesn't make it any less true.

After an Oscar or summat?
it boils down to a choice between a piece of chewing gum and a years supply of top table cuisine.Class is irrelevant, just a touch of realism will do ithisroyalblueness said:Re preference for a top 4 spot for the CL or an FA cup win; well we all want both but if forced to choose then the choice says a lot about the individuals character.
It boils down to a play off between delayed gratification and instant gratification and they're the key difference between middle class and working class attitudes and being middle class or working class has very little to do with job or wealth status - amazingly true!
Regardless of job type or wealth, the way a person chooses to target a future benefit or go for immediate returns is the biggest single distinction between the classes.
I'm skint but still want the CL over an FA cup win - it means that despite my socialist leanings I'm still middle class I guess.
