Apologies, i was being a bit of a dick....i guess i was just trying to highlight my disagreement with the opinion that young people MUST sign up and enlist...but they wont because they are "delicate little snowflakes".......and those with that opinion are usually ex-servicemen and/or those who would have absolutely no intention of doing so themselves, and fall behind the convenient fact they are "too old now"

My dad, stepdad, paternal and maternal grandfathers were all in the Army and Navy...so there is some experience....and whilst they and probably you will disagree, i dont believe anyone should have to sign up to any sort of military service or action.

I didnt intend to be personal, so again apologies

So, assuming we are attacked and the level of current service personnel is insufficient, what would want from the Government?

Absolutely no idea....its an awful situation....however, id like to think those who "run the country" would use whatever diplomatic powers they have to resolve the situation.....rather than assuming thousands of young people will be happy to kill and die on their behalf.

Running the country and preventing wars is their job, they signed up for it....cant solely rely on others to try and fix their mistakes with their lives.

No democratic country looks for war (maybe Trump being an exception), but sadly wars start by one country invading another (Russia a clear case in point).

Under those circumstances, Zelensky had no option but to enlist, and, with the state of our current armed force capabilities, we would have to do the same if we were attacked or be taken over.

Hopefully, we will never know what would happen

Part of me almost wants a conventional war with them and once and for all destroy the fuckers. Take nukes out the equation and NATO would finish them within a month.

Going back to the Falklands war in 1982, I had a mate whose argument was that if he went to fight and survived, that he would return as a hero. He was very vocal about it and encouraged others to do the same.
In the event, having joined up, he was not called upon to go.
