Just wouldn't believe it would be that high considering some of the protests within Crimea that was seen, surely fixed.

As didsblue said, most of the ethnic minorities who want autonomy boycotted the vote anyway, so it's not that surprising, and a few hundred protesters may seem like a lot on television, but they are pretty small beer out of a population of two million, most of whom don't want independence.

That I really couldn't comment on Mark - international due legal process really isn't my strong suit.
That said, I can't see the protestors just letting it lie, and it looks like this is far from resolving anything long term.

All I know is that a man voted into power was ousted and that the Crimea has voted to join back with Russia.

And that the BBC are reporting that a 'Huge minority abstained' from the vote (Like it would have made a difference to the overall vote).

As a poster said above it's very hard to distinguish the truth when so much spin from both sides is being put on it.

I don't know whether this has been posted here before but these two demographic maps say all I need to know about what should happen.

A political entity that is divided against itself by nationality/language will want to split apart and it is best that it be allowed to do so, peacefully and in an orderly manner.

It is also the case that a common nationality/language split across adjacent political entities will want to unite. It is this latter case where conflicts occur as borders are difficult to shift without the neighbours getting jittery.

As a poster said above it's very hard to distinguish the truth when so much spin from both sides is being put on it.

I dont even bother with any of them any more to be honest (news sites that is) pointless agenda driven hit making news these day. I do know that Russia has no say in what the Crimea does so that vote is as legitimate as the north voting to leave the UK without any mandate

A "huge number of people in the minority population" is not the same as a huge minority of the population. If the minority is, say, 10% then a huge number of it could be 8% of the total population, which is not a huge minority of the population. The terms that Ben Brown used are not meaningful without qualifying, ideally quantifying, how big that minority is, but the use of the terms "huge" and "minority" in the same sentence do of course leave an impression, which may have been his intent (producing propaganda rather than providing accurate reporting.)

I asked you to expand on why I was talking shit.
Ideologically they are poles apart so maybe my choice of US news company was wrong but essentially they are always towing the Russian party line and when they are not doing that they are telling everyone why the USA is so bad.
What I was trying to point out is that listening to RT for news on bad stuff Russia is doing elsewhere in the world is a bit like watching Fox News on stuff that the US is doing bad elsewhere in the world, fairly one sided

Fox News is only a cheerleader for the United States when it is Republicans in charge. They spend all day criticising Obama on all kinds of imagined offences simply because he's a Democrat and they are highly conservative. That should be Conservative with a big C actually because they love change as long as it favours the wealthy. They are mouthpieces for the Republicans and for Rupert Murdoch. Russia Today may well be a mouthpiece for the Russian state at times like this but most of the time its presenters and guests offer a refreshing counterpoint to the status quo. Can you imagine Ahmadinejad and Julian Assange as guests on Fox? Julian Assange actually had his own show on Russia Today for a while. He is public enemy no. 1 on Fox. Can you imagine George Galloway being a regular commentator on Fox? They have socialists, libertarians, anarchists, civil rights activists on there frequently. Do they have that on Fox? Fuck no. Russia Today is actually interesting most of the time because it's very different from the Fox News, Daily Mail hyper right-wing shite. Most of the time it's a left-wing or anti-establishment channel and that's why it's quite popular. It's different from almost anything out there.
