I've never really had many dealings with Russians but on holiday, by all accounts they are worse than scousers.
Much worse, possibly even worse than Cockneys.
Seriously, I know you mustn't generalise, but I've never seen/met such an obnoxious group of people on holiday. Loud, racist, boorish, ill mannered and arrogant are some of their more tolerable qualities. It must only be those that go abroad, as I can't believe a whole race of people are like this, so my apologies to all the proper Russkies reading this.
The ruskies I work with on sites are great lads, could do with laying off the vodka a bit as they stink in the morning but nothing like the cocks you meet on hoilday.
Also there is fuck all wrong with me when I go away on holiday you caaant
Fair enough mate, it must be a criteria of their travel agents to only accept complete arseholes as clients. Only joking about Cockneys, my favourite party song is,
'Knees up Mavva Braahhn!'

To be fair financially the country is on its knees and the west hasn't really helped them financially like the Russians have.
They were about to sign a historic trade deal with the EU, until the Russians decided they didn't like the idea of the Ukraine not being completely reliant on them. They have, on several occasions, threatened to stop supplying gas to the Ukraine in what amounts basically to extortion. This is all about Russia's little power games and still trying to be relevant in a new world dominated by the US, China and the EU. Putin is basically trying to recreate the Soviet Union with all of the ex Soviet states. Russia also acts like they have some sort of mandate to protect ethnic Russians who happen to be citizens of other countries, as if they're their own citizens. People born and brought up in the Ukraine have nothing to do with Russia in the same way that India has no responsibilities towards British Indians. But in the Georgia situation, it was all about protecting "ethnic Russians" (who are actually Georgian citizens).

Anyway, it seems to me that the country splitting in half might be the best solution. The country is almost split down the middle in terms of ethnicity, language and politics, with both sides being diametrically opposed. It might be the best for everyone if they just go their separate ways. But I think I know which half would be more successful 10 or 20 years later.

But that kinda sums it up. The Ukraine having a trade deal with the EU would undoubtedly be good for the country, irrespective of their relationship with Russia. There's no reason why they can't have trade deals with the EU and still have great relationships with Russia, except that the Russians have issued an "us or them" ultimatum. Because for them, it's all about keeping their neighbours from finding other partners that might make them less reliant on the Russian and more likely to tell them to shove it up their arse when they try to throw their weight around as they frequently do.

I'm with the Russians on this. What has this got to do with us or America? Fuck all that's what.

Since we and the US have a treaty with Ukraine it has quite alot to do with us.

Is this treaty a mutual defence pact or just a understanding of co-operation in the general defence area, can't see us being daft enough to guarantee Ukraine's borders in the event of a Russian attack.
