I’m sorry mate. I wasn’t careful enough reading this yesterday. You may have a point that that bear pit encourages bad behaviour. I genuinely haven’t seen as bad from them though. I actually think they have been pretty effective (as far as they can be) at holding the **** to account.

No problem at all mate. It’s one of them where you read your own post several times to make sure it’s not you responsible for the cross lines lol.

Holyrood is far more mature in its business though I will grant you that, if not a touch too dour at times and the rough and tumble of Westminster, abuse aside can be entertaining.

Came across this discussion between Andrew Neil and the former SNP finance spokesperson and chair of the Scottish Growth Commission Andrew Wilson about the party's independence claims. It is a couple of years old but the facts discussed are probably still valid.

Thought it was helpful to hear some calm discussion of key practical points - but maybe too long for most to bother with.

I listened to it all. Very interesting.
Neil asks the difficult questions.
He makes the point of a frictionless border between an Independent Scotland and the rest of the UK being impossible and initially, financially very difficult.

I wish he’d got his teeth into Boris before the NIP.

Excellent discussion which I thought both players came out of with credit. Good points made on both sides. Neil‘s last point was particularly important that there are a number of real loons in the SNP to counter the sensible members like Andrew Wilson. I honestly believe that the greatest risk to independence is the SNP itself and the transition plan. It needs clear communication and absolute honesty and a comparison with the status quo. We need to get on with it and start to build the plan and communicate, communicate, communicate. The more sensible and experienced People involved in its formulation the better.

it was a good discussion and Neil correctly focused on the why nots. I thought Wilson was honest and realistic at addressing the challenges we would face, particularly with a transition period. What a bloody contrast to Brexit. ‘Lower costs’ ‘ lower energy bills’ ‘ more trading growth’ ‘more money for the NHS’

Precisely!
However that’s the exact point that should have been put to Boris. That he was talking through his hole.
And what is happening up North now is precisely what was predictable as soon as third country rules were implemented.
Something they and the DUP chose to go for.

I’ll watch this space in Scotland with great interest.
