The Scottish Politics thread

Question to the Scots in here, as I’m genuinely interested. Fascinated, you might say.
Supposing you do go for independence, in the aftermath, what are your political options beyond the SNP. Is there a genuine opposition as an alternative.

Really hard to see or think that far ahead.

The main parties, including the SNP would need to almost redefine themselves. The greens maybe less so, the lib-dems may never truly know what the fuck they are. But labour and conservatives will need a reform. Snp too, imo, perhaps not as extensive though.

Imagine folk might want a bit of consistency so maybe little chance of alternatives initially. Longer term, fuck fucking knows.

You’ve misunderstood where I am, I’m perfectly happy and actively want you to go your own way. Please do.

Scotland gets more money per head of population to spend and has a designated parliament to sort local issues in Scotland.

If you had the same in the north of England and upped the budget we get then child poverty would reduce more here too.

My point on voting is that it isn’t just about the Tories is it, if Scotland voted Labour then there would be a real chance next time the Tories will lose. Ironically Labour were the only unionist party who agreed to another Scot independent vote

In essence, you want English independence, but want someone else to vote for it?

Interesting. We shall see with time.

On the face of it, you may have a bit of a point. It might be well beyond that, it is almost self sustaining now, and might not matter.

Or, you may just not be seeing it, for any number of reasons.

When a 20 year old Mhairi Black took the long held Labour seat off Douglas Alexander, I remember thinking, man folk will vote anyone in as long as they are SNP. Turns out, she is actually pretty damn good, and has been consistent. It can be premature, judging 'talent' of background players.

There are a fair few to choose from, some prominent and well spoken, some loudmouthed and attention seaking, some quiet and clever. With the levels of support they have now, hardly going to come down to individual popularity, I would guess.
Kate Forbes is pretty smart. They will need an army of smart people to pull off independence though.

They had the chance to get a top finance person in the Edinburgh seat but that got given to Angus Robertson because he knows where the dead bodies are in the party. If John Swinney becomes leader then they are sunk.

But English independence all the same, whatever way it is voted?
With respect Scotland voting themselves out of the union doesn’t equate to a vote for English independence.
You mentioned previously you’d see fit to take Wales with you.
What about the rest of the Union?

I assume that wasn't meant for me, but the response.
