The Scottish Politics thread

Record A&E waiting times with an average of over 12 hours.

Won’t ever be her or her policies and party fault though.

Domestically hers and the SNP’s failures are mounting up.

What does that mean, record waiting times. How many does it take, for a record?

The current reported figures state 4 hour waiting time, with over 80% seen and discharged within that time. lists percentages of those that go over, often to do with severity of the case, according to the NHS figures.

No interest in defenfing her or her party btw, just getting an understanding of the statement that on the face of it reads quite shocking (shocked me, hence I looked), but then seems either partially selective or untrue.

4 hours is still pretty terrible btw, and deserves the same criticism.

Nothing to do with the current absence rate caused by Covid because after all, Johnson says we have beaten it and its over.

Record waiting times? any factual evidence of this? I'm not Saying Your wrong, but if like to see what your referencing.

At the end of the day, Sturgeon spends an ever decreasing amount of money in healthcare which is far outperforming its Southern counterparts.

Also factor in far greater logistical demands in running the service over a far greater area and population spread. Getting ambulances to the islands and highlands for example, is not easy. Yet Scottish government still outperform the South when it shouldn't be, factoring in the far greater challenges it faces. There is also such a shortage of nurses in England that you are finding band 6 nurses with less than a years experience simply due to demand. Up here, your talking 5/6 years minimum.

The service is and will (along with many others) inevitably begin to decline as a result of funding cuts from Westminster. No matter how much Scot Gov try to limit the effects of austerity and funding cuts, all services need money.

I find it ironic when Tories have a go at Sturgeon about the performance levels of services, yet conveniently overlook funding cuts and inferior services down South. The perfect example of choosing the facts that suit your agenda.

Loads of evidence, try using Google and for the record, it’s not just Tories having a go at her and her parties record on the NHS, it’s Labour and the Lib Dems as well.

Fair play on some of the excuses for her though, they are crackers;-)

Excuses? So Scotland doesn't have a third of the UK landmass and 10% of the population? Not to mention 96 inhabited islands that need Drs, Nurses and all sorts of other social services. As for having a go at her, that's their job as she is the leader of the ruling Scottish Government - that's exactly what they are supposed to do. Doesn't mean they would do it better, as Westminster so clearly demonstrates, or that they are correct - which i'm not saying they are not.

But surely you don't need me to explain the challenges that brings...if so, will I draw you a wee map :D ?

Although wee Tommy McHanks on his island is a convincing story not sure how it relates to A&E waiting times as they have surely made it to the hospital.
