The Scottish Politics thread

So not a United Kingdom of equal partners the. At least it's official now.
You can still hold a referendum, you just need the equal consent of all the equal partners of all the members of the United Kingdom, not just be able to decide to hold one whenever you wish despite the protestations of the other equal members of the union.

Which is kind of the point of the union, right? All members have an equal say?

Did we need permission from the EU to hold a referendum and leave ?

The EU isn't the same sort of union as the UK is. The UK is a country, the EU is not a country.

The referendum was not binding. We could have voted to stay and our Parliament could still have gone through the process to leave. We could have voted to leave and still stayed.

Parliament is sovereign. Parliament is made up of all 4 members of the UK.

Right, so essentially if any part of the UK wants to leave, it need the permission of a Westminster, Engish dominated government it's never voted for. Yet we are 4 equal partners. I don't care what you or anyone think about independence, thats just wrong.
