Today’s riot may have been partly down to the super league and the Glazers but there is one simple truth in all of this: United fans simply cannot handle the fact that they cannot compete with us anymore, they cannot deal with the fact that it is not the 90’s and they are no longer the best. This arrogance has been passed down generations, the same arrogance is the reason why clubs across the country struggle because fans would rather watch them lot on the telly than watch their local team mainly because they aren’t successful, the same reason why you see more United and Liverpool shirts on the streets of places like Carlisle, Colcheter or Plymouth than the shirts of the local teams. They’ve been spoilt and now they can’t handle the fact that they’re not only second in the country but second in their own City. We’ve got everything that they want know: an owner who improves and invests in the City, someone whose created a dynasty, someone whose looked to grow the academy, the Women’s team and other things, they’re still at Carington while we’re at the best training facilities in the country and one of the best in the world. We’ve seen the worst of our team and thank God we’re bowing seeing the best we may ever see, but don’t forget that it won’t last forever so be grateful for what we have. Thank you Sheik Mansour. The simple truth is they cannot deal with the fact that little Citeh have overtaking it, they didn’t see it coming but now it’s here...
And it’s beautiful!
Indeed.
I’m not deluded to think City’s stay at the top will be forever and I’m not insecure in accepting that.
Whereas the Rags are very deluded and very insecure about these things.
They go on like they’ve always been this big club and always will be. But United were nothing before Busby went there. 11,000 average attendances and 4,000 individual match attendances through the 1930s, going 37 years without a trophy and nearly going bust.
That was at a time when City were getting regular 60-70,000+ attendances and even attendances of 85,000. As well as winning the league and FA Cup, playing in the first ever “European” fixture. A time when Charlton were getting 70,000+ crowds, at a time when Sunderland and Villa had already won 6 league titles.
United were nothing in the first half of football history (apart from winning the league and FA Cup with City’s players around 1910). It took them until 1983 to overtake City in the all-time league table for the first ever time. And they can easily be nothing again.
Sport should be a fluid and ever changing entity. No sports teams should stay at the top forever, it doesn’t work like that. If it did, nobody would ever watch sports. United fans need to get real. Their time has been and gone. Our time is now, but our time will naturally come to an end n’all. But I understand that, United fans don’t.
That’s why I’ll never understand the glory hunters. So ashamed of their local teams that they go out of their way to choose to support clubs like Liverpool and United but then when these teams stop winning, what’s their reaction? Because they only support these clubs because they win things. They see their arses and start banging on about history and bring up spurious claims of cheating without knowing the history of their own clubs.
