The Smiths & Morrissey thread

Had a great time on Saturday in Dublin. Generally the set was bang on and he looked and sounded fantastic.

This Notre-Dame song is fucking garbage though, almost parody. And dropping Please, please, please let me get what I want for Bonfire of Teenagers - why? I really hate that song, and from the high of Our Frank to go into that shite (and he's not been playing it so much recently so it came a bit out of nowhere) really affected my enjoyment of Jack the Ripper and Sweet and Tender Hooligan. Vicar St a really good venue but I cannot believe he's playing somewhere so small. And I'm gutted that last night he played Speedway.
He didn’t play Notre Dame tonight thankfully but BOT was in.

Speedway was the highlight for me.

Band a bit iffy I thought tonight.

I work in Moorfields so I’m straight out after work. I expect to have the Herbivore burger from O’Neills and am going solo. You can’t get more Moz than that.

I’m only going to buy original merchandise so Scouse hawkers outside can do one back to Toxteth.

The Troxy in London would’ve been cool but I’m in Malaga. I could’ve gone out in Whitechapel afterwards.

The Smiths changed my life. I’ve been in the same venues as Marr and Rourke (RIP) but never Moz.

just at a pub near the Troxy in London ready to watch Moz. Some rough areas around here. Passed Shadwell on the DLR earlier. My god.
Fuck yes. East London was home for a decade. Gentrification has pushed a lot of it away but there’s always that nasty undercurrent.

Manchester and Liverpool can be more confrontational but London is more dangerous. I saw someone stabbed on the tube at Bethnal Green once.

Because he's a massive dick with far right, nationalist, arguably racist opinions.

I was a Smiths fan and still am. What I dislike about the man is the way he hid his homosexuality in the 1980s. In the position he was in, if he had any guts, he could have been a role model for gay teenagers who were mostly still in hiding back in those days.
His sexuality is private to himself. He does not have to disclose anything to anyone and its no one else's business.

Hmm not be an arsehole but I am already, if he were a City fan would he divide opinion so much? The Gallaghers are complete bellends (I love them too) but they don't seem to divide opinion quite like Morrrisey does.

I'm sure he's on the spectrum, jaded, bored, disillusioned and basically doesn't give a shite. A definitely rare breed who's done well for himself.

I personally think he's a great trait to the Mancuinan music scene and in a century time will be considered an all time great
