I honestly don’t think he cares. Always played what he wants and I guess always will.Went to Glasgow on Thursday and Co-Op on Saturday.
As much as I love the niche tracks that he played on both nights, I walked away on Saturday feeling like he really missed a great opportunity. He'd never play a Smiths heavy set, but surely playing Suedehead and First of the Gang to Die instead of Sure Enough The Telephone Rings and Scandinavia is more likely to attract people to come and see him again in the future? I reckon of the 20k there on Saturday night 80% would probably never go and watch him again after that. What would he prefer to do, play a 20k arena or play places like Vicar Street in Dublin? Just seems daft really.
Got to be careful it doesn’t turn into a mass karaoke singalong.
I was a bit disappointed Hand in Glove wasn’t played. I can only think he hasn’t been overly impressed with it when he has done it so far, so he has dropped it.
I thought the delivery of the songs he chose were spot on though and it was a great gig. I get your point for occasional fans though.
