It was shot on film and in 16:9 wasn't it?? That's what gave it it's gangstery vibes cinematic vibes and made it stand out from normal telly at the time. So it's been upgraded to HD.

Season 1 was 4:3 I think, but the rest was 16:9.

It was broadcast in 4:3, but they shot it on 16:9. HBO were smarter than most broadcasters at the time of being ahead on this. Mad that the BBC didn't shoot Doctor Who in 2004 on either!

That would be great if true. I watched it on DVD and it was shit quality.

Yeah, it was about 5~10 years ago i watched it.I think I had the original box sets so they might have been 20+ year old technology as of today. You really did feel like you were watching old TV.

Just finished a full series re-watch last night, and man, the ending is not any less frustrating this time around. One of the best series ever and they crashed the landing.
