The Sorry Tale of Our Water Companies.

The real issue is the lack of governance from OFWAT and successive governments turning a blind eye culminating in this mornings absolute piss take that will do nothing to improve services but just end up in the pockets of a few.

It’s a national disgrace that has been in the making since the day they privatised and I’d implore this government to step in and say no fucking more.

It’s not something anyone can choose to do without, it’s a necessity of life ffs, not something someone can or should use for profit.

You can do something, write to your MP or email them. I'm going to write to our new Labour MP and implore her to get the government to properly act on this. This is a massive political win for Starmer if he deals with it properly and we will all benefit.

Couldn’t agree more.

Great write up on something that is yet another national disgrace.

Not contesting the detail but how did you spot the fake water results?

I've worked at companies into Seven Trent Water - what was the comeuppance for the fancying companies to drive the valua up? Surely someone seniors had to see the inside of a cell for that?
As a side note, I started to look more closely at our local stream after our dogs started getting ill the last few years when swiming and drinking from it. As soon as I put them on a lead and stopped them going in they stopped getting ill. This didn't use to happen.

To be fair the EA are massively understaffed to check these results. But they could be reported better. Interestingly the lab analysis is done in house by UU. If it was subbed out to a private testing lab they would be very unlikley to make the results up I'm sure.

With regards to the very lovely Julia Roberts, I'm a bloke and no I'm not unfortunately.
I'm surprised they're allowed to in-house the testing (I assume at Langley Mere)?

Surely somebody has to be testing the validity of those results - if not the authorities are just as accountable for being asleep at the wheel?

Seems absolutely mental..........

The government should just take over the water companies with no compensation. The problem being that the water industry needs massive investment and this would have to be paid for by us. Only for it to be sold off again by a future Tory government to one of their mates.
Agree with you totally. The shareholders have taken massive dividends, maybe they should fund the investment required.

We all know who’s going to pay for the polluted rivers and seas cleanup in the future all while shareholders get richer
Fuckers
If you were in the UK billionaires club (yes Scruffy Jim I'm looking firmly in your direction), wouldn't this be something that you would really looking to correct for the country?

'I have more wealth than the next 25 generations of my family should be able to spend, so I am going to ensure that they have clean water and places of beauty still to visit'............
