Shades of Mark Hughes' sacking and the outpouring of grief there was in the media for him. Southampton's owners have chosen a young progressive foreign coach who is very very highly regarded. Adkins did a superb job getting them to the PL but sometimes the disciplines you need to get promoted aren't necessarily the same ones you need to stay in the PL. Personally I hope and expect Pochettino will do very well there ...

He was sacked earlier this very season after winning 9 points from 39 with Espanyol
Good luck with that

PMSL. Even more of a bizarre move by the saints.

That's one side of the things but I think it was such a bizarre decision from the Espanyol board as that one from Southampton with Adkins. The fans didn't like it too. He did well at Espanyol and after the first downfall he got the sack.

Pochettino changed the whole system in Espanyol and had maybe the youngest team in the league with a lot of academists. Seems like a decent guy as well.

I'm a big admirer of him and wish him well though the sack of Adkins was silly as fuck.

He's been out of work for a couple of months and his name hasn't been bounced around anywhere else. Why would a Manager capable of so much (in your eyes) drop down to a Premiership Club in the lower echelons of the Premiership? I also don't like the fact that he blantantly discussed the job and everything else whilst there was no vacancy. And, as twisted as it sounds, I criticsed Mancini for doing the same thing at City.

He's really getting the Mancini treatment. Hope he does well.

Let her have it, "You really fucking like these Argies don't ya?!?"

Later on, while you're bumming her, shout this out;

"OH SÍ PERRA"

I would but it might mean OH I LIKE RHUBARB, got to be careful with Spanish phrases

Adkins is a Championship manager, like Warnock he's good at getting clubs promoted but you need something extra.

Bit surprised, but I'm interested to see how Pochettino does. People talk about him leaving Espanyol, but the context is never mentioned. They're a club in turmoil, with big money problems, a boardroom in anarchy, and their best players leaving. He turned things around when he arrived, when they were fighting relegation, got them challenging at the top end, and were unlucky not to beat Barca last season. I hope he does well, as he's getting the Mancini treatment when he arrived.

You let me down, my friend.

Why exactly is he a championship manager? He's done well in the lower leagues and worked his way up.

He didn't look out of his depth in the premiership either.

Having a manager with a flashy foreign name doesn't always get you results. Juande Ramos being an example
