I liked him. But then again I liked all of our managers for different reasons and for their contribution however large or small in the evolution of this wonderful football Club. With the exception of one.

Joe Mercer?

Haha - no mate. Someone quite a bit smaller and quite a lot more squeaky.

I may rename this topic to "The spark that created the fire" Well Done MH

Clever use of the word spark

Bravo

He made some very astute signings pre-takeover. Then there was all the money and he got remarkably giddy in the transfer market.

A monkey's paw for Kia Joorabchin (you can rename the thread that, if you like). His record afterwards, both on the field and in signing players with whom he shares an agent, at QPR was utterly deplorable.

His defence of Tevez (another Joorabchin client, of course) after the Munich incident was shameful (no matter how obstinate Mancini can be, he was the boss) should have seen him ran out of the game.

I pity Stoke because they're stuck with this leech of a manager.

Tenacity - just because it isn't working doesn't mean it's wrong. Just need to do more of it, more quickly and with more intensity. If that doesn't work, do even more of it, even more quickly and with even more intensity. Etc etc etc.

I am eagerly awaiting the sequel to this thread;

Alan Ball - The Catalyst Who Made It All Possible'.
Or 'Steve Coppell- His rapid resignation was the beginning of the climb'
