For the FA cup game against Forest; it proved you were fecking clueless
I think the game's against Wigan disproves this theory at least.
In what way?
Its not rocket science losing to lowly opposition in the cup don't make managers clueless.

Caught a few though

Indeed. Bought a few good uns but bought more bad uns.
9 draws on the spin and the board asked him what he was going to do about it. "It will come good in time" said the Sparky one.

Good without cash. Useless with it.
I meant the OP

Hughes was gash

Still getting a feel for this place... I know some of you love a wind up, but when you receive pages of ridicule is that really the desired result? A successful wind up should fool people into actually considering your weird stance. The jig is up, Robbo.

What I like about this wind up thread is that it's got some quality posts in it as a result. I have a terrible memory so I'm grateful for the reminders of how things were.

Stuart Pearce didnt get the credit he deserved as well

I know! Three goals and no one gives a shit because he missed that penalty!

You are correct, but that Forest game was the cherry on a fucking shit cake that Hughes made.

Re: Mark Hughes forever remembered

He basically did make some good buys, but basically made some bad ones too, and basically wasn't the best manager tactically...... basically. He also said basically far too much in interviews ;)

Re: Mark Hughes forever remembered

I have never despised a City manager as much as I despised Hughes and I went to my first game at Maine Road 48 years ago. I cannot stand the sight or sound of the bloke.
A charlatan who is stealing a living.

Re: Mark Hughes forever remembered

Hughes is just another one of those players that got into management because he played under Bacon Face - and subsequeently hasn't done a whole lot in the job except take a bigger paycheck than a manager of similar ability. See also Ince, Keane, Bruce, Strachan and the others.

No wonder United used to win the league with ease with 5-6 players handing them 6 points each year :)

Re: Mark Hughes forever remembered

I don't remember too many complaining about Kompany playing in midfield at the time, we had nobody else to do it apart from a well past it Hamman. Kompany said himself he preferred midfield and was usually very good there, was the best player on the pitch on his debut. Schalke away was a glimpse of what Kompany could do at centre back but it's not like he was rubbish in midfield. When we signed de Jong they were paired together with Robinho, Ireland and Wright-Phillips/Elano in front of them and looked solid. He was a regular under hughes until the second season when he was coming back from surgery and looked very unfit whenever he played. I might be wrong but I don't remember Mancini immediately moving him to centre back either.

Mark Hughes forever remembered

Obviously,we are always stronger in second half of the season, the referee always had a nightmare, same old script with Hughes, never his fault.Perfect match with Stoke.
